Small Press Literary Publishing: Value Systems and Niche Publishing

Antoni Jach.

As mainstream publishers in Australia are curtailing their publication of writing of high literary and cultural value due to significant commercial pressures the field is open for small press publishers to publish literary novels and poetry, especially in limited editions. Particular attention will be given to two literary publishers Giramondo and Modern Writing Press. The scenario of writing which has high cultural value but low commercial value (and the opposite scenario) will be investigated.
