The International Conference on the Future of the Book 2004

Late August/early September 2004

We are delighted to announce that next year's conference will be held as a follow-on event after the Beijing International Book Fair in 2004. The date for the 2004 Fair is still to be finalised, but it is expected to be either at the end of August or in early September. The Book Conference will commence on the day after the Fair concludes.

RMIT University and Common Ground's partner in China will be the China Book Business Report (CBBR), publisher of the national trade newspaper which is distributed to over 60,000 readers per week in the publishing and book-selling industry. Printing industry associations and businesses in China have also expressed keen interest to support the Book Conference in Beijing.

CBBR will be reporting on the 2003 Conference and will be publishing many of the keynote addresses in their newspaper. This will stimulate further discussion and debate within China about the development path for the publishing and printing industry there. CBBR will be ensuring that the 2004 Conference includes strong local themes that are in keeping with the scope and depth of discussion commenced at this year's Conference.

Looking forward to seeing you in Beijing!
